Sant Baba Mohan Singh Ji
All India pingla ashram was founded in 1983 by Sant Baba Mohan Singh Ji. He was born in the year 1891 in Pakistan. During the partition of 1947 he came to India with his family. During his journey he saw innocent and helpless people suffering due to partition. His soul was shattered at the sight. He started to help at the camps and served langar to the needy. Engrossed in serving for the people he got separated from his family. After that he never saw them again. After the camps he started living in Gurudwara at Ber Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi district Kapurthala and devoted himself to Waheguru. During this period he met Bhagat Pooran Singh and under his guidance started helping needy people. After some time he was sent to Patiala so that he can help in raising funds for the pingla ashram in Amritsar. He was provided with a room in Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib. The Gurudwara has langar service 24/7. Due to this reason many beggars, orphans, physically challenged, etc. used to wait outside to have food. As there was no one to help them when they get sick, the managers of Gurudwara Sahib asked Baba Mohan Singh Ji to take them to the Pingla Ashram in Amritsar. He started taking them to Amritsar and they were being taken care of. After some time, the ashram in Amritsar was so full of patients that it was getting difficult to take care of them. He has to bring the patients back to Patiala. He can’t see these people suffer so he set up a camp just outside Gurudwara Sahib in Patiala and in it he attended sick people. People passing by saw him and helped him with food supplies, clothes and other essential items. With the increasing strength of patients, it was getting difficult to treat them in the small camp. He registered the service as Pingla Ashram of Patiala and got certified as a registered society. The then DCP of Patiala, A.K Sinha allotted the Ashram with land and for the construction of building Shri Satyajeet Majithiya gave a donation of 1 lakh 25 rupees. Baba Ji was very dedicated to his service. Even after all the staff and help he used pick the feaces and urine of patients himself. He used to bring medicine and even do the dressings of patients himself. During emergencies he would carry the patient on rickshaw puller and himself drove him to the hospital. Many patients were cured under his care. In the memory of patients lost, akhand path is held every year. The main motive of Baba Ji to establish an Ashram was to serve for the mankind. During his last days he handed over the responsibilities of Ashram to his youngest son Baba Balbir Singh Ji who is also the current head of the Ashram. In the memory of Baba Ji every year twice Akhand Path is held and daughters of the Ashram are wedded and are blessed for their upcoming new life.
